"Morphologically, P. majusculus and P. signifer are very close. The premaxillaries in both species are indistinguishable, and both have a parhypural bone (the only osteological attributes examined). The fin rays and spines in the only known specimen are damaged and their morphology is difficult to determine. However, in P. majusculus, the gill rakers are longer and more numerous (14) than in P. signifer (12)."
