Sahyadria
The genus Sahyadria consists of two species: S. denisonii (Red Line Torpedo Barb and S. chalakkudiensis which are endemic to the Western Ghats of India.
S. denisonii is currently reported from Karnataka and Kerala while S. chalakkudiensis has only been reported from Kerala so far. S. chalakkudiensis are uncommon in the hobby compared to S. denisonii . The presence of a black blotch on the dorsal fin which is absent in S. denisonii is an easy way to tell them apart. They grow slightly larger compared to denisonii but care levels are the same.
They are currently placed in the Dawkinsia genus based on the molecular phylogeny study done by Mayden et al in 2020.
