The common grocery store pothos is one of the most useful of aquarium plants without actully being an aquatic plant. While it grows as a houseplant in soil at grandma's place, it will also root in water. And grow. "water roots" and "soil roots" are different, which is why you can still kill a pothos by overwatering it when it's in soil, even though it will live forver in water.
