Genlisea
hispidula lobata margaretae
pygmaea subglabra_Darwiniana violacea

Genlisea is a perennial rootless, aquatic or semi-aquatic herb that grows from a slender, occasionally branching rhizome, an underground horizontal stem. Claimed by Darwin to be carniverous this was not confirmed until 1975 when better microscopy techniques enabled workers to discover these plants consume microscopic life deep inside the plant towards the roots.
