At the dawn of the 21st Century, an alternative approach was taken bilding a system of name without rank that applies to all life and where species and groups of species ae organized into groups that are actually related into "Monophyletic" groups (Monophyletic means they all share a common ancestor) that better illustrates actual evolutionary trends.
